Jean Yancey
1914-2000
Inducted 1985
For over 50 years Jean Yancey was an entrepreneurial
mentor and an accomplished speaker, touting the message: “Go
out and make a difference.” As an East High School student
in 1929, Yanceyand her best friend talked the president of the
Denver Dry Goods store into allowing them to present the nation’s
first fashion show for teenage girls. She returned to Denver
in 1962 after a number of years in New York City retail. In 1964
Yancey
opened the Bridal Loft in the Cherry Creek Shopping Center and
ran this store for 10 years. She then started Jean Yancey Associates,
a company providing training, consulting, and education for entrepreneurs. |
