A veritable powerhouse, Jill Tietjen embodies a can-do spirit that takes her from power plants to corporate boardrooms, classrooms, and podiums as she speaks across the nation.

A registered professional engineer, author and international speaker,  Tietjen spent more 40 years in the electric utility industry consulting and providing expert witness testimony on behalf of electric utilities before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and state regulatory commissions. She has lived and worked in Colorado since 1981 and has received numerous awards from engineering, civic, and social organizations for her service to her profession and her community. She served as an accreditor on behalf of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and was the national president of the Society of Women Engineers. As of 2021, she serves on the board of directors of Georgia Transmission Corporation, and electric utility based in Tucker, Georgia. She was the first woman to serve on the board of directors of the Rocky Mountain Electrical League and was also its first female president.

A formidable advocate and champion for women, Tietjen empowers women in her role as philanthropist, mentor, and awards nominator. She mentors girls and women in the technology and engineering fields and has established and endowed national and local scholarships for women in engineering and technology. She has successfully nominated more than 50 women for national and local awards and halls of fame. She has chaired non-profit and state boards including Girl Scouts – Mile Hi Council and the State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors (Colorado). As of 2019, she serves on two corporate boards – Georgia Transmission Corporation and Merrick & Company. She is listed inWho’s Who in EngineeringWho’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in Technology.

Tietjen is president and CEO of Colorado-based Technically Speaking, Inc. She regularly speaks on women’s accomplishments across all fields of endeavors and on leadership topics. She co-authored the award-winning and locally best-selling book Her Story: A Timeline of the Women Who Changed America and  Hollywood: Her Story, An Illustrated History of Women and the Movies. She has written or co-authored nine books, more than 100 e-Newsletters, over 200 articles, five exhibits for Google Arts & Culture, four book chapters, more than 180 blogs and has been featured in over 400 articles.​ In July, 2019 Tietjen was inducted into the Colorado Author’s Hall of Fame  

Her latest award-winning book, Over, Under, Around and Through: How Hall of Famers Surmount Obstacles, (Fulcrum) was released in May of 2022.
